Device and Bus Power Management

Introduction

It's important to attack device and bus power management holistically. At the most basic level, we need to make sure that the hardware is able to use the power management features that were designed for them. This really has two parts to it:
  • We need to make sure that the operating system understands how to enable these features.
  • We need to make sure that the operating system isn't prevented from enabling the features.

Currently the project is focused on three major subsystems:

  • SATA
  • USB
  • PCIe
