Power and Performance Measurement

Introduction

For the past two years, the Kernel Performance Project has been monitoring the performance of the Linux kernel in the areas of: scheduler performance, memory performance, network performance, and I/O performance. The Kernel Performance Project adds power performance monitoring into its scope. By systematic measurement of power performance, we hope to provide data that will allow the Linux community early detection of any problems in the mainline kernel. We also quantify the benefits of power saving features being introduced.
